Rule Management

The Access Administration panel provides an extensive menu of tools for centralized control over session establishment in your local domain:

Access Rule Example

Active rules
lists the currently active Rules for Access
Component options
sets the active Rules and the Rule mode
Define (value) Group
sets the processing order for one or more Rules, Rulesets or Groups
Display (value) Group
displays a Group or Value Group for viewing or modification
Rule counts
displays how many times each Rule gets used
Rule definition
contains operands for specifying whether a particular session should be allowed or denied
Rule display
displays a Rule or Ruleset for modification or viewing
Rule reload
refreshes the Active Rules with any changes made to the Rules, Rulests, or Groups
Rule test
creates sample sessions to test against your Rules
Statistics
lists session activity that is being monitored by Access

Access Rule Definition

The Rule Definition panel provides a wide range of operands for defining specific or general rules that allow or deny session establishment. For example, let's say you only want to allow a remote Payment Department's staff to access your production CICS system during peak business hours:

In this example you will "Allow" terminal devices beginning with "PAY" from Subarea "3" to establish a session with "DBDCCICS" between "07:00"(7:00am) and "18:00" (6:00pm) on any Weekday (Monday - Friday); any other LU's or those LU's outside of the time and day interval will be denied session establishment.
